About Card Chain
A daily word-chain puzzle for people who enjoy Magic card names, pattern finding, and sharing efficient solutions.
Why it exists
Card Chain turns the vocabulary of paper Magic cards into a compact daily puzzle. Each link must carry the final word of one card into the opening word of the next. The game is designed to reward card knowledge while still giving newer players a guided Easy mode.
The project is independently created and maintained. The software, puzzle system, interface, scoring, administration tools, and daily scheduling are original project work.
What the beta includes
- Separate daily Easy and Hard puzzles.
- Two-ended chain building, progressive hints, streaks, and archive play.
- An installable mobile web app and optional 8:00 PM Eastern reminders.
- Exact card-name validation using a curated or imported Scryfall card database.
Rules and features may continue to change in response to beta feedback. The How to Play guide documents the current behavior.
Card information and images
Card metadata and image links can be imported from Scryfall’s public bulk data. Scryfall is not produced by, endorsed by, supported by, or affiliated with Wizards of the Coast. Card images are displayed for identification and should retain visible copyright and artist information.

Magic: The Gathering, card names, card images, artwork, symbols, and related marks belong to Wizards of the Coast and their respective rights holders. The game remains free to access.

Bug reports, accessibility feedback, privacy requests, and project questions can be sent through the contact form. The form delivers messages to the protected project dashboard without publishing a personal email address.
